CONTROL UNIT;
Based on state-of-the-art electronic components, the control unit effectively measures the superior power deployment of the KTM FREERIDE E-XC. In order to ensure constant and reliable operation of the engine under all conditions, the latter is cooled by fluid.
The brushless brushless synchronous motor of the KTM FREERIDE E-XC is managed by a sophisticated control unit specially adapted to this type of use. It guarantees immediate power deployment for maximum pleasure. The more winding and narrow the tracks, the greater the pleasure. Indeed, as the entire torque is available from the first wheel revolutions, the gear changes and the clutch are finished. Never before has riding a motorcycle have been so simple. And as the electric motor delivers 18 kW in max power in Cross 3 mode, the KTM FREERIDE E-XC holds the high dragee to many motorcycles equipped with an internal combustion engine. In Economy mode, this model is even capable of recovering kinetic energy during deceleration phases (descent or braking) to give an additional boost to the motorcycle. It should also be noted that, in terms of operational safety, the KTM FREERIDE E-XC makes no compromise. Even if there is total water immersion, you do not run any risks. The drive system and the KTM PowerPack battery are completely waterproof.
The dashboard located between the steering column and the saddle makes it possible to choose between three driving modes, each offering a different power deployment. In addition, a series of LEDs (from green to red) inform the pilot about the charge levels of the PowerPack battery. The red LED starts to flash as soon as the load level is less than 10%. The motorcycle then automatically switches to emergency mode. The blinking frequencies of the red LED symbolize different error codes.
Three different driving modes are proposed to adapt the driver’s group’s behavior to the skill levels of the rider on a READY TO RACE motorcycle. However, these modes are of the other interest: optimizing energy management according to the needs of the pilot’s moment and preferences. Mode 1 “Savings” limits speed to 50 km/h, mode 2 “Enduro” restricts power to 16 kW and 3 “Cross” mode makes it possible to exploit all the available power, i.e. 18 kW.
